Going into the final game of the campaign, Almeria needed a draw to seal promotion to the Spanish top-flight after five years in the Segunda Division.
The lanky striker rose to the occasion once again, scoring the equalising goal for Rubi’s side to earn a 2-2 draw away at Leganes.
Incidentally, it was Sadiq’s international teammate Kenneth Omeruo, who put Leganes 2-1 ahead going into the break.
“This is a fulfilled season for me. Winning the league and gaining promotion was my ultimate target with this team before any personal records.”Sadiq said after the game.
“I’ve been the highest goal scorer of my team in the last two seasons and scoring this important goal against Leganes will forever remain fresh in my memory,” he said.
Almeria finished on 81 points from 42 matches ahead of Real Valladolid on goals difference of +33 as against +28.
